Cue Barbara Streisand singing “People, people who need people, are the luckiest people in the world.” Now ponder poems coupled with photographs and imagine what a fabulous mix of art forms that is.
Streisand goes on to sing, “But first be a person who needs people…” so being one who needed other people to make this artistic mixture, I reached out to some folks I know to be good with words and asked them to write a poem to accompany a photograph. As each one reached my Inbox, the project became more and more powerful. Art is meant to be interpreted by those engaged in it, and it is fascinating to see how the wordsmiths each chose to give their own meaning to the images. To my collaborators Carrie Banks, David Braly, Miles DeMott, Layne Holley, Jim Inscoe, Kurt Kochek and Laurie Weil I give sincere thanks.

Cue the music again, but on the Beatles channel this time. “I get by with a little help from my friends. Mmm, gonna try with a little help from my friends.” I thank you, my friend, for staying tuned in to my Camera Journey. It has been an amazing year with travel across four states for a fantastic corporate client, and another piece in Covey Rise Magazine about an impressive bourbon distillery in Kentucky. There is more to come as I get cued up to be the featured artist for the 2015 awards event sponsored by the Montgomery Area Business Committee for the Arts, and as I prepare work for my very first solo show in Thomasville, Georgia in conjunction with the 20th Anniversary of the Plantation Wildlife Arts Festival. With my camera by my side, I consider myself one of the “luckiest people in the world!”
